"LEST WE FORGET"
IN MEMORY OF ALL THOSE WHO SERVED IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR

My Dad, 2nd Lt. Jack T. Cone (Happy Jack)
This picture was taken in 1943 as a Tech Sergeant before sailing for Africa.

The McDonald Boys
Above are my maternal uncles at the end of the war. Tom was a tank commander (couch left), Gene was USAAF ground crew (chair left), Bill (couch right) and George (standing) (both my namesake) were naval aviators.

I once read something by a man that was born in the late 1800s. He stated that as a child, he would sit in the town square and listen to the stories of the old Civil War veterans. As time passed, the men were no longer there. He felt a great void in his life when the Vets were gone. Oh how I empathize with that man. How I shall miss the great and wonderful men that I have had the pleasure to have known.
Here are my wife and I in California next to a war memorial that speaks volumes. It is of a boy holding the flag from his father's coffin.
