13th airborne

Col. Edward Bernard 13th Airborne - Glider Rider

He was the base commander of the 13th Airborne at Fort Bragg, NC. He was involved in the first night's double tow of gliders at Camp McCall, NC. I never had the pleasure to meet Col. Bernard. But I have met 2 of his daughters. One was married to Brewster Ellis KIA at the end of the war in Germany. She then married James P. DeMott of the 17th Airborne. His other daughter, Helen, I have had to pleasure to enjoy her company on several occasions. Her first husband was in US Army Air Corps and her 2nd husband, Allen Wall, worked on P-47s in the European Theater. Such all American, All military families are the backbone of our country. I am sure their daddy would be proud!
