16th panzer division

Lt. Christian von Lucke 16 Panzer Division - 2 Regiment

Lt. von Lucke was the adjutant for the 2nd regiment at Salerno. On the 2nd day, his C.O. was wounded, hence Christian had to take over. He opposed my dad at Salerno. One striking thing he stated was that when he saw the massive Allied armada in the Gulf of Salerno he knew at that point that Germany had lost the war. At least 11 panzers were shot out from under him. He fought from the beginning to the end of the war. He is a veteran/survivor of Stalingrad. His brother was not!
